Terrace Little Theatre is pleased to announce the imminent arrival of our spring show. Actually, we're pleased to announce the imminent arrival of our spring showCASE.

We strive year over year to bring you the very best in live entertainment and this year is no different. This year, we've got a Triple Bill for you. It's a TLT first. Director Adam Kirkwood and two amazing casts have put together two immensely entertaining one-act shows called One Spring Morning and Elevator. As an added bonus for your entertainment dollar, Jack Cook and the Copper Mountain Stringband will take the stage as a third act with a cabaret style Blue Grass String Band concert.

The evening begins with One Spring Morning. A look at what can happen when we dare step outside of our three feet of personal space. As the curtain rises, we meet Ernest. A middle aged middle manager minding his own business, enjoying his morning paper. Life. Is. Good. Except for one small thing. He's trying a new bus-stop. Not long after beginning to feel comfortable with his new surroundings, three females descend upon Ernest and take him on a journey he'll not soon forget. TLT veteran Andy Roth makes his return to the stage playing Ernest. Amber Hansen plays Elsie with Ella Martindale as "Little Girl". Rounding out the cast playing "Little Old Lady" is a trio of veteran, award winning TLT talent. Julie Jacobs, Diana Braathen and Nancy Stone Archer will each take turns (and great pleasure) making Ernest's life hell.

Next up is Elevator. Ada Sarsiat and Marianne Brorup Weston play Martha and Katie. One is a few bricks short of a load and the other is a few more. Their days are spent ducking the land lady, waiting for the next family reunion and for their groceries to be brought in all from the safety of their beloved elevator. After learning how to avoid getting goiter, some minor re-decorating, and a couple of tall tales, Katie and Martha show us just how much fun one can have on an elevator if one just puts ones mind to it.

At TLT, we take pride in our professionalism and dedication to our craft. That is why we are so very proud to be partnering with Copper Mountain Stringband to bring you this TLT first. Jack and Jean Cook, Wayne Sheridan and Eric Sweeney are this region's pre-eminent force in down-home, good time acoustical string band music. This Triple Bill has it all, comedy, drama, ups, downs, role-playing and blue grass. And it's all for you, our valued patrons. NUNSENSE 2 - The Second Coming

They are back!
For those of you who didn't get enough of the crazy Little Sisters of Hoboken's fundraising antics a few years back, now's your big chance.

Terrace Little Theatre duo Marianne Brorup Weston and Tim Keenan have reassembled the cast of NUNSENSE and are readying for performances in November.

Articles in the news:

NUNSENSE II: The Second Coming picks up the story of the prize-winning sisters six weeks after their fund raiser to bury their four dead sisters. They have returned for a Thank You Show, but immediately there are problems around Sr. Amnesia's origins as the Franciscans appear on the scene.

Returning as the Reverend Mother is Mary Ann Lawrence and her flock of stage-struck nuns are once again played by Karla Hennig, Amy Turner and Robin Hollett. Her ambitious side-kick Sr. Hubert, Mistress of Novices is played by multi-award winner Janine Hamming. Gertrude Green has returned from her provincial tour as Sr. Mary Annette to complete the ensemble.

Musically, the Mount Saint Helens Eruptions band is led by the fearless Br. Tim. He backs up the singing sisters with Sr. Dancing Fingers Javinder Roy, Dylan Gordon (bass), Yvette Bos (reeds) and James Powell (drums).
Dance choreography is by Sophia Palahicky.

Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the ensemble that stormed Theatre BC's Mainstage in 2006 where they were advised to tour their show professionally. (Upon reflection they collectively decided to decline that offer and remain unimportant like the rest of us.)

That person will get back to you with a time they can meet you at the theatre. TLT members can borrow costumes with a small refundable deposit. For the general public or other organizations, a rental fee may apply.

Musical Theatre Youth Program

Here is some information on the new Musical Theatre Youth Program being put on through the Terrace Liesure Services department.

A full session, September through to April, will bring together participants in singing, acting, and broadway dancing, all in preparation for a group production at our local Pacific Northwest Music Festival. They are hoping to attract groups from 8-10 and 11-15 years old.

Monthly Member's Night - Play Reading

Our next reading is in February, featuring a play selected by Karla Hennig. If your membership has lapsed, you’re still welcome to attend – you can always renew while you’re there!

Exciting News – Reno’s at the TLT

After many years of fund raising, much needed renovations and improvements to the McColl Playhouse are finally taking shape. Drive by the McColl over the coming weeks and you will notice that we’re getting a facelift! New siding is being installed. We are also adding insulation – no more long cold hours of rehearsals. This should also help keep our energy costs down.

And watch for the beginnings of a new on-site warehouse. The slab will be poured within the next few weeks and construction of the actual warehouse is expected in the early fall. Soon it will be time to move everything over from the old warehouse to the new so watch your emails for an opportunity to help us out.

The Bunk #7 Theatre Project is seeking talented actor-readers
For a Canada Council of the Arts Developmental Playwrighting Workshop

August 1st (5:00 p.m.) and August 2nd (10:00 a.m.)
At the McColl Playhouse in Terrace B.C.
With director-playwright Michael Armstrong & musician-songwriter Marcel Gagnon

Interested actor-readers will possess excellent reading skills & must be comfortable reading in front of a group. They preferably have some acting experience or drama background.

Age, gender or race is NOT an issue for this workshop exercise.

There are 6 acting roles available:
Gray, Aboriginal Nisga’a male in his late teens
Gunay, Aboriginal Haida male about a year younger
Paul, Aboriginal Dene in his teens
Doug the Slug, Aboriginal Haida male in his teens
Ernie, Aboriginal boy about 11
Head (Mike), his best friend, also 11

In addition there are a number of cameo roles for the white staff members at the school, including an English supervisor, one or two of his colleagues, The Principal Rev. Stamp, the Vice-principal Rev. Dudley & a supervisor from the girls’ side.

The story of the play, written by the late Larry Guno, concerns the arrival of an English supervisor at a residential school in Edmonton,
his affect on the boys at the school and the riot that ensues when he is fired.

Readers will receive a modest remuneration for their time as well as a meal and should preferably commit to the project in its entirety.

Auditors are most welcome to attend.

Summer Drama Days - Cancelled for 2009

The Terrace Little Theatre regrets informing the community that we will not able to run this very popular program for the Summer of 2009. Inadequate funding and volunteer capacity, plus potential conflicts with on-site construction projects, have placed us in the position of having to cancel Summer Drama Days for the second year in a row.

We are not happy with having to make this decision, but we had little option based on our existing program model. The Terrace Little Theatre asks for you understanding. We will be continuing to work on a revised program model for 2010, and other youth projects for the near future.

Building Upgrades:

Exterior beautification and on-site warehouse are priorities
Marianne has offered to put together a submission proposal for pole removal in auditorium, outlining a few different options. Exact time of removal will depend on a number of things, but it is hoped to be done before 2010.
Still looking into grant opportunities for exterior beautification. Estimates will be requested for new siding, along with storm windows for upper floor.
Looking into finding historical photos of McColl Playhouse in order to find original appearance.
Patrick looking into further options for auditorium seating. Also, committee is considering fundraisers for new seating or feasibility of refurbishing
Garnett will be organizing a work party to put auditorium seating in for "Self Help."
Looking into quotes on laying concrete, partners for construction of warehouse, and direction on proper location.
Lean-to will wait other priorities addressed

Maintenance:

When siding is being applied, fix flashing.
Alan mentioned having a mason fix our chimney.
