The Bunk #7 Theatre Project is seeking talented actor-readers
For a
Canada Council of the Arts Developmental Playwrighting WorkshopAugust 1st (5:00 p.m.) and August 2nd (10:00 a.m.)
At the McColl Playhouse in Terrace B.C.
With director-playwright Michael Armstrong & musician-songwriter Marcel Gagnon
Interested actor-readers will possess excellent reading skills & must be comfortable reading in front of a group. They preferably have some acting experience or drama background.
Age, gender or race is NOT an issue for this workshop exercise.
There are 6 acting roles available:
Gray, Aboriginal Nisga’a male in his late teens
Gunay, Aboriginal Haida male about a year younger
Paul, Aboriginal Dene in his teens
Doug the Slug, Aboriginal Haida male in his teens
Ernie, Aboriginal boy about 11
Head (Mike), his best friend, also 11
In addition there are a number of cameo roles for the white staff members at the school, including an English supervisor, one or two of his colleagues, The Principal Rev. Stamp, the Vice-principal Rev. Dudley & a supervisor from the girls’ side.
The story of the play, written by the late Larry Guno, concerns the arrival of an English supervisor at a residential school in Edmonton,
his affect on the boys at the school and the riot that ensues when he is fired.
Readers will receive a modest remuneration for their time as well as a meal and should preferably commit to the project in its entirety.
Auditors are most welcome to attend.
